On the way to the Publisher’s Invitational Paintout in the Adirondacks, Barbara Yongue, Glenda Keyes, and I spent three days at Shelburne Farms Inn.   We arrived in the dark the first night and fell into bed around midnight, not giving any thought to the orientation of our room or the unshaded windows.   The next morning the sun came up over the mountain and poked me in the eye at 5:15 a.m.  Wide awake and too excited to sleep, I grabbed by painting gear and painted this small piece before breakfast.   It was a good thing we went out early because there were clouds and showers the rest of the day.

Shelburne Farms is a nonprofit education organization whose mission is to cultivate a conservation ethic for a sustainable future. In addition to the seasonal inn where we stayed on the shores of Lake Champlain, they have several huge barns, a dairy, a cheddar cheese making operation, a bakery, and educational programs for students and families.  Click here to learn more.
