June is hydrangea season in South Carolina and the recent showers are keeping them well hydrated.  My cousin Pat offered me this lush bouquet from her yard to model for a painting.  I used a mixed media technique starting with a panel textured with acrylic medium and combining acrylic paints, charcoal, and pastels.

As a floral gift, hydrangeas can carry a variety of meanings.  I prefer to think of them as symbols of gratitude and thanksgiving.  I’m grateful for verdant gardens, generous gardeners, and art-loving readers.  Thanks for your friendship!
