The weather is still oppressively hot here in South Carolina, but I’ve recovered from my “Bah, humbug!” mood and have been working on some ideas for larger studio paintings based on plein air pieces, photos, and memories.  I find that I can paint in larger sizes and be more expressive with color when I’m removed from the limitations of painting on location.   This piece is based on the salt marshes along the Georgia coast as the ebbing tide reveals the pluff mud that supports the grasses.
