Continuing my series of water lily paintings, I’m experimenting with similar compositions in different sizes and formats.  This is a large piece, 30 inches high by 40  inches wide.  This size would work well over a buffet in a dining room.

This small color study was done in preparation for a larger studio painting.  Besides being useful for planning larger pieces, these small studies are often my favorites because they are fresh and loose.  The 5×7″ size fits a standard size mat or frame, and can add a bit of color to a small space.  This piece and other small gems are available on Daily Paintworks.

The water lilies and broken reflections inspired this painting.  I’m continuing to experiment with a red underpainting to add contrast to the blue green in the foreground.

Don’t forget that the silent auction of selected 12×12″ paintings continues through November at The Village Artists, in northeast Columbia, SC.  Proceeds benefit Harvest Hope Food Bank and SQ Rescue.   Starting bid is $60 or BUY IT NOW for $150.

This week I’m continuing my series of painting with oil paints using painting knives.  The inspiration was the sun shining through the thin, ragged late summer waterlilies at the Sandhill Research and Education Center.
