On a recent trip to Charleston for an OPA paintout, Barbara Yongue and I stayed in Mt. Pleasant. After a busy Saturday painting on the streets of Charleston and framing wet paintings for an afternoon reception, we were glad to have a more relaxed day on Sunday.
At the end of Pitt Street is an old bridge that once connected to Sullivan’s Island, but is now a recreation area with views of Charleston, the barrier islands, and the marshes. As the sun came up, it lit the houses along the edge of the marsh and inspired this painting.
