At the Publisher’s Invitational Paintout in the Adirondacks in June, 100 painters scouted the best locations within a 50-mile radius of the Paul Smith’s College campus. Lakes, mountains, old barns and historic churches attracted many painters, but the most popular places were the waterfalls. Because of the recent rains, the falls were gushing.
This piece was painted at St. Regis Falls starting with a yellow ochre underpainting because there was so much of that color in the muddy water.
