Moore Farms Botanical Garden

This small painting was completed on site during a visit to Moore Farms Botanical Garden in Lake City, South Carolina, last fall.

According to the website, “the garden was founded in 2002 by South Carolina native Darla Moore, who sought to prove that her family’s ancestral croplands could be transformed into a place of beauty, and an example of horticultural excellence.”  The garden is a beautiful place and well worth a visit.

Lake City is home of financier Darla Moore, who has donated millions to universities in South Carolina and is one of the key organizers of ArtFields, which is also an effort to revitalize Lake City. Read more about the event in this article in the Charlotte Observer.
