The waterlilies at Sandhill Research and Education Center are a favorite subject that I have painted many times. The round shapes of the leaves and the ripples in the water form a pattern with endless variation. I find that repeating a familiar motif gives me freedom to experiment with different techniques and colors. In this painting, I used a vertical format and an analogous purple-blue-green color scheme.
