As I observed two weeks ago, the South Carolina gardenscape is GREEN. The view from my studio at the back of my home has glimpses of a sunny golf course through fig, magnolia, palm, and dogwood leaves. As I’ve continued to experiment with gelli plate printing, I’ve added to my collection of green prints.
Today I wanted to immerse myself in green and celebrate the color in my art. To get in the mood, I chose a green shirt, bandana, and jewelry. I spritzed a woodsy vetiver fragrance. I surrounded myself in the studio with green paintings and prints. As a result, Summer Garden #6 (above) reflects the lush layers of the landscape.
How do you get in the mood to make art? How do you use sensory input to add to your art making experience?
