Stitching

Work in progress – 6×6″ fabric collage with stitching

This week I’m adding layers to my fabric collages with machine and hand stitching. The design process is similar to adding drawing or calligraphy to a paper collage.

I like working with and combining different types of media. I find that design concepts – shape, color, line, value, form, texture – are the same regardless of medium. But the feel of a new medium can spark new ideas and add to my expressive vocabulary.

  1. Really nice! You have certainly sprouted out in different directions over the past few years! Very talented you are! I have the oil you painted fromSedona in my dining room. Everyone loves it. Me too. I still remember the night of your presentation at the art guild. I went out to my car to leave but couldn’t get the painting from my mind so went back in and bought it.❤️

    1. Thanks so much, Mary Lou! I love to hear that you are enjoying my painting in your home!

  2. I too love different media together. I love your experiments. It is amazing to see how well different media work as one. Look at the mixed media of art of one of my favorites, Susan Sorrell.

    1. Thanks, Harriette. It’s fun combining media. And I will look for Susan Sorrell.

  3. Love it. Your progress is terrific.

  4. Nice artwork. I love fabrics in art, go with it and see where else it takes you. 🙂
