The shadow pattern on the ground inspired this painting. It’s part of my series from Clemson’s Sandhill Research and Education Center near my home in central South Carolina. I painted there for years before it was closed to the public at the beginning of the pandemic. The walking paths around the lakes provided many good views for painting.

I love everything about this painting, the colors, the subject, the nice reaction I get with the beautiful purples and the general balance of the composition. I love it.
