Hello friends,
Welcome to 2023!
If you’ve been scrolling the internet in recent weeks, you’ve read that 2022 was the best or worst of years. 2023 will be even better or much worse.
As if a year was an animate being.
As if your life is under the control of the Earth’s orbit.
You may have seen that the stock market is down and inflation is up and our politics are sideways. Oh my! Let’s stay home and make resolutions to work out more and feel less.
As if the state of the world makes us feel bad.
As if willpower can squelch feelings.
Don’t be fooled! This not how the world works. In fact, your thoughts create your feelings (and subsequently your actions and your results). Let that sink in. Most people think their circumstances make them feel and do things, but our thoughts create our feelings. And thoughts are optional. Does that make sense to you? How are you feeling today? Can you identify the thought that is causing the feeling? This observation is the beginning of your ability to manage your mind.
Over the last few months, my husband and I have made several changes in our life. We downsized and moved to a smaller home in a retirement community. Now that I have set up a functional studio and have less home maintenance to do, I’m returning to painting and blogging. The image above is the boots on the trunk of South Carolina’s state tree, the sabal palmetto. I’m continuing to experiment with printing without a press using a gelatin plate.
I’m also exploring a long-term interest in self-development and am practicing for certification as a life coach.
If you would like to know more about how your thoughts create your feelings, reply to this email or use this form https://lucindahowe.com/contact/ to set up a time for a free consultation. I will tell you more about how I can help you clarify you thinking and manage your mind to get the results you want.
Also, please pass this email along to your friends who may be interested in making art or would like to get coached.

Wonderful Cindy. In midst of treatments for Bud and myself and closing of our home this Friday. Next chapter in this novel, Our Life. Interested in your blog.
Love this monoprint, Cindy. And love what you have to say about thoughts and feelings. Good stuff!
