2017 and every November
As we all know, 2020 has been, and continues to be, a weird and unsettling year. As we approach the American Thanksgiving holiday on Thursday, nothing seems to be “normal”. When I look for reasons for gratitude, the first thing that comes to mind is my garden and the wider natural world. In spite of all the human drama, plants proceed according to their own schedule. If it’s November, the sasanquas are blooming like they were in years past. It’s likely that next year and the year after that the sasanquas will be blooming in November. I find hope in the cycle of the seasons.
What makes you feel grateful and hopeful this Thanksgiving?

24 Nov 2020What a beautiful flower you have illustrated to share with us. I have fond memories of two varieties of sasanquas, the white and the red, that my mother always planted wherever we lived. They are truly a gift from above.
